DAMIEN: Good morning and welcome to More Photos Radio. My name is Damien Allen, and joining me today on the telephone is Eddie Price of Eddie Price Photography. Good morning, Eddie, and welcome to the program.

EDDIE: Thank you. Good morning.

DAMIEN: I see you have some stunning art prints available on your website, Eddie. How did you get started in this and what exactly are your art prints?

EDDIE: Well the art prints are actually different experiences, I guess, as I travel to different places and the things that I see that catch my eye that visually I think I want to take a picture of. The art prints are just what I do to relax my mind and actually on focus on the fine art of photography, and what I try and do I actually like flowers. I really find flowers intriguing. They intrigue me. They challenge me to get the detail, to get the visual impact that they have, but I enjoy just taking pictures when I’m out of town, when I’m traveling, even sometimes even at a wedding I might see something that I want to take picture of and after the wedding is over, I go back and take. It’s just my avenue to fulfill my art sense, I guess you would call it, and the prints are not necessarily for sale, although I have sold some, they are more or less experiences for me, something that I just enjoy and it gives me the opportunity to share it with others.

DAMIEN: What’s the process? Do you do all the art work yourself?

EDDIE: All of those pictures are digital, and actually some are film, because with digital I’ve gone back with some of my film pictures that I have taken and actually done work with them digitally to enhance them and bring the detail out that previously I could not do. So most of them are pretty much straight print, just enhanced to bring out the detail. I haven’t actually manipulated them but a small amount. All pictures are manipulated some.

DAMIEN: We see you also offer unique service of photo restoration. How did you get started in offering this service, Eddie?

EDDIE: I started with photo restoration I guess some years ago, because I am the family genealogist in my family, and we had a number of old photographs that needed some work on them. They had tarnished or they had aged from just the age of them and they were from back in the early 1900 a lot of these prints. So I started doing restoration just for my family and from that getting involved with it I’ve done restoration for a number of years. I’ve restored all kinds of different pictures over the years. It’s one of those special things, because genealogy is really important to me and the fact that you have something from the past that needs enhancing or the detail brought out, because a lot of times the images are faded over time and there are details there, but you just have to know how to manipulate it to get that fine detail that is in the picture or in the negative or in the print. And it is one of those things that I find very interesting as another avenue. I am always looking for things that challenge me and restoring pictures is one of those things that challenges you, because you have to use a number of techniques to get the detail out of the pictures, and it provides awesome results when you get the picture to come back out and someone receives it and says, “Oh, that’s my great, great grandfather, and that’s what they look like.” And you get that response back from someone, it’s greater than the amount of work that goes into it, because restoration work is work that requires a lot of time and a lot of patients and it’s one of those experiences that I really enjoy doing for people, because in the end I know how important genealogy is and family pictures are and it’s nice to be able to give people that picture and see the results.
